Concerns for Harrogate's Post Office Services

November 2, 2018 3:06 PM

Local Lib Dems are outraged at the proposals to relocate Harrogate Town Centre's Post Office into WHSmith.

Post Office

Cllr Pat Marsh said:

"The Government is downgrading our Post Offices and this cannot be allowed. In Harrogate there may not be enough space in the existing store WHSmith's to relocate a Post Office that offers the service our present Post Office does. We are really concerned that the services offered at present will be reduced to enable the relocation.

We hope there is meaningful consultation and not just a tick boxing exercise and that the people's opinions and concerns are really listened to. Our town centres are already suffering as online shopping impacts on the retail sector; therefore, to remove this valuable service to what could be a hidden space in another retail outlet, with no parking for the disabled, could have a negative impact on our High Street. We need local people to make their opinions known."
