NHS funding crisis hitting home in Harrogate

This week Councillor Geoff Webber and our Prospective Parliamentary Candidate Judith Rogerson have raised concerns about the future of patient services in our district. Questions have been asked over whether services such as non-essential medical procedures will have to be cancelled to save costs.

The multi-million pound deficit is not the fault of the CCG, the Trust or the Hospital. It is because of a chronic lack of funding and investment by the Government in our health service. The Lib Dems want to find a cross-party solution to secure a sustainable long-term settlement for the NHS. In the meantime we have called for a 1p increase in Income Tax which would raise £6 billion pounds to be ring-fenced for health and social care.
